Did you know that the 2010 US Census reported a voting age population of 557,664 persons in Collin Co? Did you further know that the Collin County Elections Registrar reported 439,740 Registered Voters in Collin Co for the May 14, 2011 local elections? If every one of those 557,664 voting age persons are US Citizens, which they likely are not, there are 117,924 possible Collin Co voters who are not registered to vote. That makes the county's voter registration rate close to 80 percent. That registration rate may be closer to 90% depending on how may of those non-registered voting age people are not US Citizens and therefore not qualified to vote. The problem in Collin Co is not registering new voters - it is more about figuring out how to get already registered voters out to vote.

Proposition 1 - Frisco For (a Favor) 5712 52.64% Against (en Contra) 5140 47.36% In an election that saw a record 18.6 percent Frisco voter turnout, Frisco revoked authorization for the remaining $16.4 million in bonds for the Collin County Arts Hall by a slim margin. The joint effort with the cities of Allen and Plano calls for building a 2,100-seat performance hall in Allen. Each city had pledged $19 million to bring the first phase to fruition. The project has been cited as an example of regional cooperation, and millions have already been spent on architectural plans, roads and prep work. But, vocal small-government anti-tax advocates in Frisco, who do not want Frisco city government involved in such projects, organized to revoke the bond package approved by Frisco voters six years ago. In spite of the vote, the City of Frisco remains an owner city in the project and a party to the inter-local agreement signed in 2004. Withdrawal from this partnership agreement would require further action by the Frisco City Council.
