Stem Cell Prohibition Stripped From Texas Budget

The controversial budget rider prohibiting state dollars from going to medical research using embryonic stem cells, which was strongly supported by Gov. Perry, won't make it into the final version of the budget bill. Gov. Perry has been touting his support of legislation to eliminate stem cell research from Texas to religious-right conservative groups in the run up to his primary election face-off with Kay Bailey Hutchison.
